CURIOUS COSMOS LAB

Hey, my name is Lucas Kitchen. There are a lot of things that I dabble in, but I'm quite proud to call myself an amateur astronomer. "What does that mean?" you might ask. I'll explain that more toward the end, but first let me tell you about the lab.

The Curious Cosmos Lab, is a small observational astronomy and astrophotography observatory in Longview TX. Among other equipment the primary scope is a 12" Meade LX200-GPS. This scope can peer at faint deep-sky objects, or nearer solar system points of interest. This telescope's motorized smart-mount allows for long exposure photography of the dim and distance celestial bodies. Once the sun goes down, this gear can give a brilliant view of the moon, planets, stars, or nebula.

So let me say a few things about what it means to be an amateur astronomer. First it means that the science that I do here is funded by my wife and I. We work with an organization called 289design. We a writers, graphic designers, and online evangelists. 289design creates content that is designed to share the gospel with the world. As part of 289design, one of the tools that I use to share the good new of God's grace is astronomy.

We are always in need of support. We don't have special funding for this project, but would welcome any help you can give. Please feel free to hop over to this page and see how you can help support this and other branches of our ministry.
